NO MORE HOLIDAYS!

Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE the holidays. LOVELVEOVEOVELVEOVLVOLOVE them. The food, the return of friends from out of town, the drinks, the family (sometimes!), and did I mention the FOOD?!

Cookies for days. So. Many. Cookies.

Though I feel now that if I even so much as look at another cookie, I might explode.
Maybe.
Okay, I may or may not have had one while typing this post. Two.
It’s not my fault, they are homemade heaven in a Christmas tin, thanks to my lovely Kali over at ShrtStacks! Keeping me fat and happy well into 2015

Now that the holidays are over and the new year has rolled in, I feel like I need to re-motivate myself. Back to sewing, reading, cooking, and of course, blogging. I can’t just keep up with my life through various daily Timehops for the rest of my years, can I?! I think not.

I would also like to point out to future Me, that I have type ‘my’ for ‘me’ and ‘me’ for ‘my’ each time during this post.

OK, back to goals. 2015 goals……………………I hope.

Some time last year, I was inspired to make my own lingerie. The feel of the satin, the silk, the lace; It’s wonderful. Almost like a dream. No matter how 2007 Kelly Osbourne

I feel like I look, (Let’s be honest, we all have those days), I can come home, put these luxurious suckers on, and feel like Dita Von Teese.

I picked up a couple of patterns from Ohh Lulu, as well as one from Mrs. Depew, and I’ve only cut out the patterns.

I’m not sure what happened to me last September, but I just lost my motivation. I think it may have happened when I started “tailoring” at a local boutique here. I put that in quotations because I had maybe 2 clients, and the rest was just sitting around, being a boring shop girl in a store with lovely items, but no traffic.

Point is, I’m getting back at it. I’ve made a few dresses, a bunch of skirts, and failed to finish a top.
I’m going to pull a Drake and start at the “bottom”, and work my way up….or out, I guess. This week I will be choosing my exact adventure. I will be picking out the following patterns:

  • Undies
  • Bralette
  • Bra
  • Slip
  • Skirt
  • Top
  • Pants
  • Dress (or maybe two. I really would like a vintage wrap style dress.)
  • Cropped Cardigan
  • Coat

That’s about one a month. I think that is a reasonable amount. This creative venture does not include my knitting, crocheting, or food creating goals. It’s pretty safe to say that this year will be a creative one. I am also trying to get out of the house more, maybe ride a bike and rejoin ballet. GOALS!

grand opening!

I know I don’t have a lot of followers on my blog, but I want to apologize anyway. I have been SO busy, working full time weeks as well as overtime, and crocheting up a storm to get Christmas gifts done before I run out of time. Maybe starting a blog this late in the year wasn’t really in good form, if I wanted to keep up with it on time.

Between all of this, I have found time to open myself up an Etsy shop. Drum roll please……….

I’ve actually just uploaded my newest baby ice cream:

As well as a new Florida style Christmas palm tree:

Ch-ch-ch-check it out.

Also, a dollar from each sale will go to help the 306 Foundation. What is that you ask? Well, I will insert my post from Facebook from a month or so back.

Since I have started working with The Spice & Tea Exchange of Winter Parkand The Ancient Olive about 2 1/2 years ago, we have always sold a few products that – with 100% of the profits – helped to benefit a local foundation that helps put an end to human trafficking in Central Florida, as well as helping out at-risk women and children in the community. That foundation is the 306 Foundation. Lately, we have been lucky enough to meet and work with some of the women that are benefiting from this amazing foundation, via their Toolbox4Life program. Speaking one on one with them was both heartbreaking and inspiring. The most inspiring part about them, was that out of everything they have endured, they are crazy determined to make a better life for themselves and their children, with whom they share space with in their shelter.

Because of my position at work, I was able to extend a job offer to one of the women from the program that we had job shadow us last week. This holiday season, I would also like to help monetarily, by donating $1 from each small crocheted item sold, and $3 for any large, directly to the 306 foundation. Everything I have made and will make, is handmade individually with love and care, in a smoke free and pet free home. Brooches, patches, and ornaments are available. In addition to the things I have posted already, I am open to requests and suggestions. I hope that this picks up, because if it does, I will eventually be able to donate more per item.

If you would like to help directly, you can visit them athttp://www.306foundation.org/

The hunger is real

There is no question that I am always hungry. NO QUESTION. I could eat all day and not give one fuck about it. Obviously if I were to do that, I would be a million pounds, so I found another place to direct my hungry eyes…….and moved it over to my hands. That’s right y’all, I’ve been on a crazy crochet crafting craze since I’ve learned this new skill.

Brooches and pin cushions and ornaments, oh my!

I CAN’T STOP.

COMPLETED: Get the fox outta here! basket.

It’s finished! I actually finished this last week, but I had to keep all of my million readers in suspense, of course. Or maybe I just got lazy. You choose your adventure.

The quickest parts of this entire thing, were the ears and the eyes. The ears were the most fun.

They’re so cute and tiny. I love them so much. I thought about making another pair by themselves, and attaching them to a wire headband of some sort. IDK just spit balling over here. I’ve got a million projects in my head, maybe I shouldn’t add another one to my queue just yet.

So here it is, my sweetly adorable labor of love, wonky eyes and all:

Whatcha think? SO CUTE AMIRITE?! Just sitting over on my end table, being cute as shit and holdin’ my yarn. I also bought this mug at TJ Maxx a couple weeks ago

You could maybe say I’m obsessed. If I could possess an actual fox as a pet, I would. Who wouldn’t?! Look at these faces, they just scream “CUDDLE ME!”

Sweet lil BB foxes. OK, I think I’ve used to adjectives “sweet” “cute” and “adorable” enough times for one night. Roommate and I are living on the edge tonight – we bought a white wine just because it claimed to taste like cake batter. Spoiler alert: it totally does.

Halloween! [insert music notes here]

Halloween was so much fun! It is not only my favorite holiday, but it is the kick off to my favorite time of the year. ALL OF THE HOLIDAYS. And here in Florida – I can’t believe I’m about to say this – it got COLD. Like, I got to wear a cute sweatshirt cold. Anyway……Halloween!

I had my staff dress up for work of course, because if being the boss doesn’t lend itself to have your entire staff dress up, then I want no part of it.

In Progress: Foxy Basket.

This basket has definitely been an adventure, to say the least. It’s had it’s ups! ……..And also it’s downs. Currently, I’m stuck in a down. I’ll get to that. On to the UPS!

The biggest, of course, is that it intrigued me to learn a new skill.

Working with two strands was definitely intimidating, but right about after this point, it got super easy. I think the most difficult part was starting the chain, and stitching the first round. Getting it in the tiny holes was a challenge.

BUT! Practice makes perfect, and then you get this:

Needless to say, I was pretty damn excited, and it only took me a couple of days to get to this point. As a n00b, it’s a proud, shining moment. Soon it was time to start with the red, and I couldn’t wait to start on this QT babies face. The pattern says to work in the nose at the base of the face, but I decided to leave it off so I could just make it separate like the eyes, and then stitch them on at the end.

Isn’t it cute?! Faceless Fox is adorable. This picture makes it look a lot sturdier than it is, so that’s cool I guess. In reality, it’s floppy and slouchy, even when there is stuff in it. I’ve come up with a plan to make it work for me, it’s just going to take a couple days. Realizing what I have to do has gotten me re-upped on excitement! I’m coming up on the ears next, and they are done with one strand instead of two. I’m very curious to see if they will have more standing power than the basket itself. I may have to double up. Whatevz, lets do this shit.

Pre-Halloween Party

Went to a house warming costume party last night, that I may or may not have forgotten about until about an hour or so before. My roommate and I threw together some quick costumes with some really crappy face paint from Target. End result? Kind of awesome. This is the first costume I’ve worn since I was about 6 that didn’t have blood involved.

Halloween is the one time of year you get to spatter yourself in fake blood and wear ridiculous things, and I always intend to do just that.

For being last minute, I think it came out pretty well. I know you can’t really tell here, but my eyebrows were incredible. I’m absolutely in LOVE with NYX’s Eyebrow Gel in espresso. I’m pretty sure the lipstick is theirs, too. Yep, just checked, it’s their Matte Pure Red lipstick. MATTE ALL THE THINGS.
